My Top Twelve Girlie Movies
♥
One of the best feelings is making a blanket tortilla
on the couch, munching at popcorn and watching a good movie. Sometimes the real
problem is trying to find a movie that is worth watching. So if you are in the
mood for a good chick flick or just get homesick…awkss…most of these are British.
You should check this list out!
- Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging ♥
This is by far one of my
favourite movies of all time. I can literally narrate you the whole movie.
“For the zillionth time
dad, I’m an adult you don’t have to stalk me.” – First line….yess…I CAN narrate
the whole movie. I have seen it a zillion times and it never fails to cheer me
up.
The story revolves
around fourteen…going on fifteen, Georgia Nicolson. Being a teenager her main
concerns are her looks, boys, her best friends and snogging ;) She is the most
hilarious character in a movie I have ever seen (even funnier in the books) and
the story is realistic enough that you don’t feel like chucking the popcorn at
the TV…Not that I’ve done that for a movie before…pfff.
1)
Chalet Girl ♥
This is probably the cutest movie I have ever watched.
I love the actress Felicity Jones, she is such a great actor! Not to mention
Chuck Bass from Chalet girl as though very handsome and rich love interest! Also,
an awesome soundtrack.
Nineteen year old Kim who used to be a pro skateboard
leaves
school and quits her skateboarding dream after her mother dies. One day
she comes across a job of being a Chalet Girl, she fights for the job against
Poshies and by luck ends up getting the job. A real-heartwarming story that
flourishes with determination, friendship, laughter and romance.
2)
Wild Child ♥
OMG. This movie is amazing! Your typical girlie movie.
It’ll make you smile ear to ear and make you depressed that you don’t have
friends as loyal as the girls in this
movie!
Emma Roberts, plays a American teenager who gets sent
to boarding school in the UK. From the beautiful beaches and scorching weather
of Miami she gets thrown into the rainy countryside that is the boarding school
Abbey Mount. Her plan is to get expelled from the school by getting with the
Headmistress’ son, Freddie ♥
3)
Bridget Jones ♥
Bridget Jones’ diary & Bridget Jones, the edge of
reason.
This movie is the adult version of Angus Thongs and
Perfect Snogging. Thirty something woman thinks she is forever alone until two
men come into the picture.
A post-feminist, thirty-something British woman who has a penchant for
alcoholic binges, smoking, and an inability to control her weight. While trying
to keep these things in check and also deal with her job in publishing, she
visits her parents for a Christmas party. They try to set her up with Mark
(Colin Firth), the visiting son of one of their neighbors. Snubbed by Mark, she
instead falls for her boss Daniel (Hugh Grant),
a dashing lothario who begins to send her suggestive e-mails that soon lead to
a dinner date proposition. The two fight over who deserves her affections the
most. Popular British performers Gemma Jones, Jim Broadbent, and Shirley
Henderson appear in the supporting cast. ~ Jason Clark, Rovi (Rotten
Tomatoes)
4)
Love Actually ♥
All of London is in love -- or longing to be -- in Four Weddings and a
Funeral writer Richard Curtis' first directorial effort. Billed as "the
ultimate romantic comedy," Love Actually involves more than a dozen main
characters, each weaving his or her way into another's heart over the course of
one particularly eventful Christmas. The seemingly perfect wedding of Juliet
(Keira Knightley) and Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor) brings many of the principals
together, including heartsick best man Mark (Andrew
Lincoln), who harbors a very unrequited crush on Juliet. There's also recent
widower Daniel (Liam Neeson), trying to help his lonely stepson Sam (Thomas
Sangster) express his true feelings to a classmate. Across town, devoted working
mother Karen (Emma Thompson) tries to rekindle the passion of her husband,
Harry (Alan Rickman), who secretly pines for a young colleague of his. In the
same office, the lonely Sarah (Laura Linney) not-so-secretly pines for a man
just a few desks away (Rodrigo Santoro), who returns her affections but may not
be able to dissuade her neuroses. Providing the unofficial soundtrack for all
of the couples is an aging rocker (Bill Nighy) who just wants to cash in and
get laid -- but even he might find a meaningful relationship in the most
unlikely of places. A working print of Love Actually premiered at the 2003
Toronto International Film Festival. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi – Rotten Tomatoes
5)
Wild Target ♥
A gorgeous con artist sells a fake painting to a powerful gangster and
discovers that crime doesn't pay when her unsatisfied customer hires Europe's
top assassin to take her out. But the moment Victor (Bill Nighy) gets Rose
(Emily Blunt) in his crosshairs, he hesitates. The situation grows tense when
Victor vows to protect the sprightly scammer rather than rubbing her out, and
finds himself the unwitting mentor to a young protégée. Before long, all three
are on the run from Europe's second-best assassin.

St-Trinians♥
The uniformed but rebellious students of a distinguished all-girls school
get an unexpected chance to raise a little hell as directors Oliver Parker and
Barnaby Thompson set out to revive the characters created by comic artist
Ronald Searle and made popular in the British film series that began with
1954's The Belles of St. Trinian's. When their beloved school is threatened
with closure should the powers that be fail to raise the proper funds, the
girls scheme to steal a priceless painting and use
the profits to pull St. Trinian's out of the black. Rupert Everett, Colin Firth,
and Mischa Barton star in a mischievous comedy penned by Piers Ashworth and
Nick Moorcroft. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi –Rotten Tomatoes

Crazy♥
A love story is both a physical and emotional tale, one that can be deeply
personal and heartbreaking for an audience to experience. Director Drake
Doremus' film Like Crazy beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as
thrilling and blissful as it is devastating. When a British college student
(Felicity Jones) falls for her American classmate (Anton Yelchin) they embark
on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she
violates the terms of her visa. Like Crazy explores
how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. --

Sally Hawkins and Eddie Marsan star in director Mike Leigh's seriocomedy
concerning an eternally optimistic teacher living and working in North London.
Thirty-year-old teacher Poppy (Hawkins) always has a smile on her face, and
does her best to brighten the days of those around her by making small talk and
cracking jokes. For the past ten years, Poppy has lived with her best friend,
Zoe (Alexis Zegerman), a fellow teacher whose wry outlook on life serves as the
perfect counterbalance to Poppy's effervescent
charm. One day, Poppy decides that it's time to take driving lessons and
enrolls in the Axle School of Motoring. Almost instantly, Poppy and her
stressed-out instructor, Scott (Eddie Marsan), clash. Still, it seems that
there's more to this relationship than surface appearances would suggest.

Pitch Perfect♥
Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who'd rather listen to what's coming out
of her headphones than what's coming out of you. Arriving at her new college,
she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that
she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and
weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing
together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect. When Beca takes this
acoustic singing group out of their world of
traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they
fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a
cappella. This could wind up either the coolest thing they'll ever do or the
most insane, and it will probably be a little of both. -- (C) Universal –Rotten
Tomatoes
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel star in director Marc Webb's wry,
nonlinear romantic comedy about a man who falls head over heels for a woman who
doesn't believe in love. Tom (Gordon-Levitt) is an aspiring architect who currently
earns his living as a greeting card writer. Upon encountering his boss'
beautiful new secretary, Summer (Deschanel), Tom discovers that the pair have
plenty in common despite the fact that she's seemingly out of his league; for
starters, they both love the Smiths, and
they're both fans of surrealist artist Magritte. Before long Tom is smitten.
All he can think about is Summer. Tom believes deeply in the concept of soul
mates, and he's finally found his. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Bend it like Beckham ♥
An
independent-minded young woman discovers the joys of football, much to her
family's chagrin, in this upbeat British comedy drama. Jess Bhamra (Parminder
Nagra) is an 18-year-old growing up in West London, where her family has taken
every effort to stay in touch with its Indian heritage. Jess' father and mother
(Anupam Kher and Shaheen Khan) are after their daughter to go to law school,
learn to cook a traditional Indian dinner, and settle down with a nice Indian
boy -- the latter of which is high on the
agenda of her older sister Pinky (Archie Panjabi), who is soon to wed her
longtime beau Teetu (Kulvinder Ghir). However, her family is unaware that Jess
has a secret passion -- football (or soccer, as it's known in North America).
While Jess' enthusiasm for football star David Beckham is obvious, given the
fact his photos cover the walls of her room, her parents don't know that in her
spare time she likes to play a friendly game in the park with some of the boys
in the neighborhood.- Rotten Tomatos
