Dealing with Harry Potter Withdrawal

Harry Potter Withdrawal :(

I have been a massive fan of the Harry Potter series since I was four years old…and then became your major Potter Fanatic when I was six when I read the first book.
It has now been over a year since the last movie of the Harry Potter franchise has come out. I have not been dealing with it well : ( So…if you like me are still getting depressed that the world of Harry Potter is slowly come to an end this is how you can keep it going…in your mind…oh god. I want to bawl now.
The Pricey way…
1)      GO TO HARRY POTTER WORLD!

If you get the opportunity, please go…please. I went when I was thirteen. It was the best days of my life…that is preeetty pathetico. Anywho, I was so involved and enthusiastic that I ended up actually dressing up and getting asked how long the line was for the Hogwarts ride because, a) I’m British and yapped on about the queue and such b) Me looking like a Harry Potter looney. C) Telling my family (they don’t get my nerdy ways…or the Potter world -.-) legit everything about Harry Potter. So yeah… I was very proud of myself tbh…

Getting Chosen for wands in Olivanders!!

2)      I’m not sure if it’s still going but there was a Harry Potter Exhibition. I went to the one in Chicago… it was amaaazzinggg ! You weren’t supposed to touch anything but I sat on Hagrid’s legit chair… OMGGG… ONE OF THE CAST SAT ON THAT OMG. Being the rebel I am…I touched Hermione’s Yule Ball dress. Not lying I own one and I try it on all the time…awwkksss. Too bad it doesn’t fit anymore.

3)      If you live In the UK…that’s brilliant because there are loads of locations that you can go to where the movie was filmed. One of the locations I went to before I moved was Lacock Abbey, Chippenham, Wiltshire. I went there just before I moved and it’s just magical. Firstly, because you feel as though you are in Hogwarts and secondly, because it is so old and beautiful the whole atmosphere of it makes you want to believe you can pull out a wand and strut around in a Hogwarts Uniform.

The non- pricey way… (What I’ve been doing all weekend)
1)      Re-read the books.
That sounds obvious, I know but it really helps! Re-live the experience and it still is magical!

2)      Listen to the soundtrack: )
I do this all the time (I loovvee soundtracks) no, but really. The composers Nicholas Hooper and John Williams are incredible!
Here is a playlist on YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4BDF87F3B1BB12CD

3)      Make Butter Beer!
The best butter beer is obviously in Universal’s Harry Potter World…but…you can MAKE a similar tasting one using, Design Dazzles recipe.

Magically Easy Butterbeer Recipe:

Butterbeer:

2 liter cream soda

2 tablespoons Butter extract

2 teaspoons rum extract

*drop the extracts into the 2 liter bottle, put on cap and slowly rotate until combined.

Cream topping:

1 7oz container of marshmallow creme

1 cup whipping cream

1 teaspoon rum extract

*add all items together in an electric mixer and combine until smooth.

Pour the butter beer into a glass, drizzle with the cream topping, and enjoy!

4)      Read Fanfiction!
Reading stories from fans means that the world always goes on.
I have on written (when I was twelve… it’s not fantastically written ;) ) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5835534/1/Albus-Potter-and-the-Mirror-of-Alas

5)      Go on Pottermore!
It honestly is really fun. J.K.Rowling and oubvs a bunch of techies designed it for a detailed and personalized HP experience! Get sorted into houses and duel with other players!

6)      Have a HP day with your friends!
Get a group of friends over and make them wear as close as they can get costume. Use the butter beer recipe I put above and serve with HP looking treats. It is bound to be a good laugh while you marathon the movies!

So yeah…a few ideas on dealing with Harry Potter withdrawal.

Temperaments&Elements&Birthsigns #2

Intro: Birth signs … Truth behind it?

You’re flipping through a magazine and you come closer to the back page, the horoscopes. You think hmm...maybe I should check out my horoscope for the month and get something like. “This Month is the month of decisions; make sure to be prepared for the consequences. The first week should be your week or preparation, so use this week well. Approaching the 14th of this moth you need to make a big decision.” La la la. You may read this and think….ouff scary…that’s so weird how real it is! Well…I do that all the time… I don’t know about you.  Anywho, what they probably do is think…okay…May…Lots of the population (students) will be prepping for exams, summer deadlines for employees and whatnot. Daily horoscopes to me are a bit of fun, not truth.
So what is this post about if not about horoscopes? Well… I believe birth signs have some truth to it. Think of when you were born? A summer baby, a Xmas baby (JESUS;) ) LOL…Jk...but really…when were you born?

 ^ That’s my sign…an Aries.
©       I am very active (I HATE sitting around, unless to write….)
©       Unfortunately I am quite impatient and demanding… I do not like dilly dallying and whatnot.
©       I am veeery determined once I put my mind to something…I have to go through with it… I’m not a quitter. (When I moved to Canada I went to French school…speaking only English to become bilingual… that was the worst year of my life but I achieved so much out of it.)
©       Effective… I am a perfectionist… I like things done quick but well.
©       Ambitious…this is probably one of my biggest traits. I want to do everything and see everything. I don’t like wasting time on the little things when there are so many oppitunities that I could take hold of…
Well. Maybe you did a comparison to your chart to. However, that could just mean that you made a linear connection to your sign…any proof and science of this?
Well… I did a bit of research myself. I found that from TEMPRAMENTS (Look at previous article … or search it) are the fluids (humors) that dominate your body in which gives you personality traits.
I got ENFP.

They are preeetty similar and I was looking through a ton of forums and the majority of zodiac signs and ENFPS were Pieces and Aries … My Dad and I… sketchy…
Anywho….I am now off the rambling road to nowhere and back on track. Star Signs.
“The argument Seymour puts forward is that the movement of the Sun, moon and sundry planets from Jupiter to Mars, interfere with the Earth's magnetic field. In doing so, the unborn offspring of expectant mothers around the world are exposed to different magnetic fields that toy with the development of their budding brains.” -http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/ra2004/may/18/research.highereducation
I for one am a definite believer in personalities and character traits. People obviously have different beliefs, hobbies, and interests but in the end you are compatible with who has the traits that connect with your personality.

Highlights of the Week! Week 1) ★

Highlights of the week!
★☆★
Movie:
©       The Movie Highlight of the week has to be….
Submarine (2010)
I love a good old British movie to cheer me up on my homesick days. I have watched this movie before (while being ill so I didn’t take anything in) this week I was scrolling Netflix and I came across it again and re-watched it! I have to say…it was a bit bizarre but I did enjoy it !
“15-year-old Oliver Tate has two objectives: To lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to extinguish the flame between his mother and an ex-lover who has resurfaced in her life. “ –IMBD
It features, Craig Roberts as Oliver Tate (Tracy Beaker, Being Human), Yasmin Paige as Jordana Bevan, Sally Hawkins as Oliver’s mother, Jill Tate.

TV show:
©       The TV Highlight of the week has to be….
Agatha Christie, Marple (2004- )
If you are a fan of mysteries like Sherlock, or period dramas like Downtown Abbey this ITV show is worth watching! It features many different recognizable actors and actresses in these 1hr and half episodes. Agatha Christie’s famous character, Miss Marple. An elderly spinster, with the observant skills of Sherlock Holmes and the appearance of Betty White…well the actress Geraldine McEwan, will most definitely get you thinking as the mystery unravels.
This show is much like Sherlock, although it is set in 1950s in the village St Mary Mead , not modern day London and acts as an amateur detective.

Music:
©       The music (song) Highlight of the week has to be….
Hermit the Frog Marina and the Diamonds
I love this song! It is so different and fresh. Mariana and the diamonds (Mariana Diamandis) is a half welsh (yeees!!) and half Greek singer. I find she has a similar style voice to Lana Del Ray and Paloma Faith and the song styles of Ellie Goulding, Little Boots and Rita Ora.

Celebrity:
©       The celebrity Highlight of the week has to be….
Felicity Jones
If you’ve been reading some of my posts you might have noticed that a re-occurring actress is Felicity Jones. She has played a leading role in Chalet Girl , Like Crazy and Albatross (the movies I’ve seen her in) and also has starred in Doctor Who (The Unicorn and the wasp, series 4)She has such a wide range of talent and I like all her characters in all the movies she’s been in.

Book:
©       The book Highlight of the week has to be….
City of Bones  The Mortal Instruments
If you haven’t heard of the Mortal Instruments franchise…honestly?! No I’m kidding, no really though…you should look out for it! It is a really great read!
What is it about?  - The City of Bones is a young adult novel that is the first part of the trilogy, The Mortal Instrument.  This sub-urban fantasy is set in New York City where fifteen year old Clary Fray and her best friend Simon are at the Pandemonium night club, in which Clary witnesses are rather peculiar murder. A blue haired teenage boy is murdered by three strange looking teenagers, although the only problem is no one but Clary can see them.
Basically, she enters a hidden world that lies within our own, a world of magic, chaos, demons and angels. Bla bla bla, your typical fantasy…but a really good one!
Thaanks for reading!
